The tool will allow users to select a file or set of files (all JPG images) from their local hard drive. They can provide some information about each file, like a caption (description) of the photo and they can also specify what photo album and “session” (another type of category) it will go into. They can preview each file, and rotate it. After selecting all the files and providing information, the files and information will be uploaded to a website. This looks like a service like we have on MSN photos. An activex will be the best solution as it will be fast and it wont require downloading of control again and again as opposed to Java Applets. But anyway its upto you what you want. The control will be divided in 2 parts. Left side will show the directory tree on local harddrive. The right side will show images and their thumbnails. User will be allowed to select images which he wants to upload. A marking will be used to differentiate selected and non seleted images. A small window below will provide information about file and will allow editing it so that it goes with that information on server. Some small buttons will be given to rotate the image clockwise and ant-iclockwise 90 degrees. After selecting images the users will click on a button which will be part of html page to upload files. The control will upload the images with category options etc to server. A script in PHP that I will develop will save files in an upload directory of your choice and will put information in database. Currently I have already developed something like that on my website.
