Description:
We need a generic ASP report builder that works as follows:

1. The first page will read a database connection string that is posted to it (for later use). It should allow the user to enter a SQL string into a Text Area.

2. It should try to execute the string, using ON ERROR RESUME NEXT, it should warn the user if an error occurred (display the message) and allow them to return to page 1.

It should also warn the user if it is not a SELECT statement (e.g. DELETE, INSERT etc are not allowed) and allow them to return to page 1.

If the SQL is valid, then it should list all the fields with 3 columns of checkboxes next to each:

The 1st column should be "field selected" and should default to checked.

The 2nd column should be "Subtotal when field changes" and only available for fields that are in the "Order By" clause. It should default to unchecked.

The 3rd column should be "Total field" and should only be available for numeric fields. It should be unchecked by default.

3. The final script will take the options and generate a simple "report" as follows:

Two color values will be specified in variables at the top of the script. They will be used for the bgColor of alternate rows of the grid.

Another variable will specify the maximum column width (this one field will apply to all columns).

A table should be displayed with the field names in the top row, and the values in the rows beneath.

Where the width of a value exceeds the max length specified, it should be truncated and have 3 dots after it.

Rows marked as "Subtotal on change" should not be part of the standard table, instead they should be used as headings.

When this value changes, if there are any fields marked "Total Value" then a subtotal line should be displayed, and then the next "Subtotal on change" value and the next table.

Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional scripts as specified.

2) Work * MUST * be original, and not a hacked freeware/shareware script.

3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

Platform:
ASP

Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Mar 23, 2003 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.

Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements. We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hi John!

I already took over your project 'Modify ASP db structure script' that will be delivered tomorrow.

In order to provide you more quality relationship, I already completed this project. Files are attached and you can review them live and give your opinion and comments what possibly should be changed.

I followed your instructions from project specification and I belive I implemented all of those features. Only thing that we should discuss more is page layout/design if current one (basic and simple design) does not satisfy your needs.

Instructions how to use attached files:
1. extract files to web server
2. execute start.asp from browser
3. change path to sample.MDB file inside the project and press button
4. enter SQL, for example:
'select group, name, qnty, price from products order by group' (without quoutes) and press Next button
5. try to select any combination of check boxes and produce reports
6. colors for even, odd rows are constants on the top of the script; also, the same thing for header, group and total rows

Please let me know your opinion. Thanks!

Best Regards,
--
Zeljko
