(About the author)

Version 2 posted 1 Mar 03. Search PSC for "LaVolpe Submenu". Don't download this version. New version fixes all issues encountered with this version. Add flash to those drab VB menus. No OCX. Pretty much format menu captions with functions provided, add 2 lines to your forms & bam! Colorful menus. A detailed help file is included in Word & HTML format along with a sample project.<br> Loaded with many options including multi-line text sidebars, image sidebars, icons on menus, raised/sunken separator bars, and much more.<br> Optional menu tips can be displayed when mouse is over a menu item. That option is not included in the sample project and is only available if you vote & request the full version. I don't think a vote is too much to ask for all that went into this project.

To all. Please read and reply if
desired. This project will be
re-uploaded with full version/comments.
HOWEVER... I have revisited it couple
weeks ago and found huge memory leak
issue. Read on.

When menu items displayed 100s of
times, out of memory can occur. For
apps with few menus, should be a minor
issue, but a problem with larger apps.
The complete version will be uploaded 1
Jan when I finish rebuilding my PC.

Other problems when menu is so large it
becomes scrollable--sidebars don't
work, menu items don't redraw. I have
found a fix for all, replicating menus
500,000 times w/no memory loss.
However, I have been advised not to
post this new version and am taking
that advice for now. You can fix it by
rethinking the graphics routines & I am
willing to discuss fixes via email.

Bottom line: original full version will
be reposted 1 Jan to this page. Use at
your own risk & test fully. Consider
this a work in progress, not a final
version. Thanx to all.

To all. Posting of original code
reposted effective 1 Feb - it will
contain comments/tips. I will
discontinue support of this project
soon. However, since so many people
liked this one, I plan on replacing it
with a much better substitute. How
would you like to add combo/list/text
boxes to menus? And without the use of
user controls? And several other
improvements... It'll make a big
splash! About 50% done as of this date.

The full/tips version posted as of 22
Jan 03, 7:00PM CST. As of this date, I
am no longer supporting this project. I
will continue to discuss it via email,
but not via feedback to this post. Hope
this project was useful as a teaching
tool at the very least. Thank you all
who have posted feedback, whether good
or not so good :)

Hi, Great code! I have been testing it
under WinXP professional and getting
some interesting errors. The If you
attach your submenus to a treeview
about 5 levels deep, the menus
sometimes show as they should but then,
at othertimes, the submenus display as
a series of lines (no text). Have you
come across this issue in XP? If you
could send me an update/fix, it would
be great!! Keep up the great work.
Cheers, Ken

Still one of the best pieces of 'Menu'
code I've seen.
I'd really like to see
the 'other' menu system you are working
on. When do you think it will be
complete / posted ?
Thanx
again,
Alon
