     Get user input via a textbox, very basic only 10 lines or so because I wanted to capture the event for beginners. To many books and sites don't get this basic and tend use very cryptic code which makes it fustrasting for people learning like me.

if you have a current version of 
perl
then you should 'use CGI;' take a 
look
at 
http://delikat.homeip.net/stuff/html/ind
ex.html
the CGI module will make your 
script much easier and more portable.
