(About the author)

VBRSGen is a handy VB 6.0 Add-In that creates formatted ADO/DAO recordset and SQL code from Access database tables and queries. Generates variables, sets objects, etc. Also includes a simple "Where" clause creator tool and a results preview grid. Code is ready to paste from the Clipboard or Notepad. Some SQL statements aren't parsed properly, but these can be easily edited; this still saves a lot of time in repetitive ADO/DAO database coding. I'm making this available elsewhere as shareware for $20, but because the PSC community has provided so much invaluable support and helpful code, feel free to download the open source code here for your own personal use at no charge! This was originally posted in early April 2002 and received amazing feedback and dozens of "5-Globe" votes, until the PSC database had some problems. So please vote and leave feedback to let me know what you think!

5 stars from me and hopefully you get
code of the month - This is the sort of
coding that deserves to win and I hope
others give it deserved votes as
well.

it can't find res file when it loads
up
Any ideas

Great Job!
It doesn't like field names
with spaces. i.e. "Last Name"

It is nice to see code written that
uses naming conventions, indentation
and all the other little things that
show a PRO has been at work. 5G.
By
the way field names with imbedded
spaces should be enclosed in [square
brackets].

Hmm, I think you can delete the
reference to a .res resource file, that
was in there for an About form taht I
removed from this version.

I'm working on revising the part that
parses the SQL so that it keeps the
brackets and properly handles words
with spaces, quotes, etc. Not all done
yet, but at least this version is
reasonably function and still saves you
a lot of time and typing! And I really
appreciate all the kind words and
votes! It would be nice to get into the
code of the month listing for the first
time ever! Please keep up the helpful
feedback...

I guess I missed out on the April Code
of the Month contest, either this just
didn't get enough votes, or that
database/vote hacking problem PSC had
last week blew me off. But I'll try to
submit a new version of this project
when I make some more changes and
improvements, and then submit it and
see how it goes over with the changes I
plan to make. Meanwhile, keep up the
great feedback and suggestions, it
really is very helpful!
