This works in SQL2000 but I can't test 
to see if this would work in SQL7.  
Newid() doesn't actually produce random 
results in SQL7 the last I used it!

I'a relative SQL newbie and i'm looking 
to mod this code slightly so that the 
range is the minimum and maximum ID in 
a table, like so:
SELECT 
MIN(CompanyID) AS Lowerbound, 
MAX(CompanyID) AS Upperbound
FROM 
dbo.CompaniesRecordset
Is this 
possible, and could you gimme a 
hand?!
